Hello, and welcome to The Queer Librarian website - a non-profit independent project dedicated to gathering news and opinion articles that concern the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community in Singapore.
Project aims
- To provide a free and useful information resource, and to encourage a sense of awareness about issues and debates that concern the LGBT community
- To maintain a historical record of articles, for readers who may not have access to such articles currently, or when they were first published
- To provide a starting point for researchers interested in an overview of LGBT-related articles
What's featured here
The website currently features news articles from various local publications such as The New Paper and The Straits Times, dating back to 1989. More articles from past and present will be added monthly, or as and when they are available to us.
In addition to politics and community news, we will also include published reviews of notable LGBT-related happenings in the local arts and entertainment scene.
Over time, we hope to gather more articles and information resources concerning the LGBT community here and in Asia from sources outside of Singapore.
How to use this website
Each article is tagged with one or more categories. To browse categories, you can use the scroll-down menu called 'Browse by tags'. Another way to browse is by month and year. For that, you can use the scroll-down menu called 'Archive'.
Each article will be displayed as a summary first, to allow you to 'browse' through. To expand a summary and read the full article, click on 'Read more'.
Reference and information service
In addition to maintaining this website, The Queer Librarian provides a free information search service to Pelangi Pride Centre, and SAFE Singapore. Unfortunately, we are unable to extend this service to individual users. If you are in need of specific information with regards to LGBT issues or the community, please approach Pelangi Pride Centre directly with your enquiry.
